How do I setup the Paypal IPN Module?

You may have seen this on the Paypal Simple Module:

This module is not longer supported. Please use the PayPal IPN module instead. The PayPal IPN module will record you transaction even if the customer does not return to your store after making the purchase. This module will not and using it may cause you to receive order that will not be recorded in the store. If you are already using this module please switch to the PayPal IPN module as soon as possible.

We need everyone that is using the Paypal Simple Module to upgrade to Paypal IPN. It is very important that you do this because you may receive payment by Paypal but have no idea what your customer ordered. It will be a difficult and time consuming process trying to contact your customer to see what items they ordered. This may even make you and your business appear very unprofessional to the customer resulting in decreased sales. To install the Paypal IPN Module, please follow the step-by-step process below. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask them. Thanks!

You MUST have a Paypal Premier or Business Account to use this!!!

Step One:

Login to your account.

Step Two:

Go to the Payment Modules.

Step Three:

Remove the Paypal Module and install the Paypal IPN Module.

Step Four:

Change the settings according to the picture.

If you have Premium Service and you are offering coupons and gift vouchers, set the Transaction Type to aggregate.

UK Customers: Be sure to select "Selected Currency" under Transaction Currency.

Please set the Paypal Acknowledged Order Status to Paypal Confirmed. If Paypal Confirmed is not in the list, add it under Localisation> Order Status.

Step Five:

Login into your paypal account.

Step Six:

Click on Profile under "My Account"

Step Seven:

Click on Instant Payment Notification Preferences under "Selling Preferences."

Step Eight:

Enable IPN and insert your auto-return url as showed below. Click save.

Step Nine:

Go back to Profile. Click Website Payment Preferences. Make sure Autoreturn is enabled and the auto-return url is inserted.

That's It!!! You are done and ready to go.

Very Simple Isn't It?

Please open up a helpdesk ticket if you have any problems. Thanks!
